We recommend Todd Scalzo, a 30-year-old attorney, who despite his relative youth has been active with a number of city groups, including the historical commission. We think his energy and enthusiasm will be a plus to the council."

Newcomer joins council
Wheaton, IL - Newcomer Todd Scalzo joined three incumbents Tuesday night in winning seats on the Wheaton City Council.

Scalzo won more than 50 percent of the vote to represent the West District, edging out Jim McMahon and Mark Kmiecik. They were all in a race to replace Dave Johnson, the longest serving member on the council.

Wheaton gets to work on its reduced budget
On Saturday morning, city council members will have their first workshop session on the roughly $75.7 million spending plan. While it doesn't reverse any of the more than $3 million in cost reductions the council approved, the budget plan doesn't call for additional cuts.
